How recreational diving began:
Modern recreational diving emerged in the mid-20th century, when Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Émile Gagnan developed the first self-contained breathing apparatus—the “Aqua-Lung.” Since then, diving has evolved from a military and scientific activity into a popular recreational and adventure sport. Today, the OWD course is the standard for anyone who wants to explore the underwater world safely and responsibly.
