Diving with Nitrox (also known as Enriched Air Nitrox or EAN) is one of the most popular advanced courses in recreational diving today. Instead of diving with standard compressed air (about 21% oxygen) as is customary, diving with Nitrox uses a mixture containing a higher percentage of oxygen—typically between 32% and 36%. This means less nitrogen in the breathing gas, which not only extends the no-decompression limits but also reduces the risk of nitrogen narcosis.
